Our new paper classifying type 2 diabetes into three subgroups was recently published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal.
We demonstrated that the severe insulin-resistant diabetes (SIRD) subgroup, in both the ABOS and the São Paulo cohort, was associated with more frequent type 2 diabetes remission and improvement of renal function with increased estimated glomerular filtration rate, after bariatric surgery.
